Shashi Kapoor has died

The symbol of romance and charm that proposed the top leading ladies during 70s and 80s on the silver screen and enchanted millions of fans, Shashi Kapoor has passed away on 4th December 2017 at the age 79. The famous actor-producer spent his last moments at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. His family member Randhir Kapoor (son of the late Raj Kapoor) said that he had been experiencing kidney problem and he was on dialysis for the past couple of years. 3 times India’s National Film Award winner Shashi Kapoor has left behind 3 children, Sanjana, Kunal, and Karan. His wife was an English actress Jennifer Kendal and she died in 1984. He was a part of the first family of Bollywood and son of Prithviraj Kapoor and two elder brothers Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. Raj died in 1988 and Shammi died in 2011.

Among his various achievements, he also received Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Bhushan Awards. The 6th edition of DIFF (Delhi International Film Festival) started on Monday at 10.50 am IST. On Tuesday morning, DIFF paid homage to actor Shashi Kapoor. The founder-president of DIFF, Ramkishore Parcha said in the event that “I would like to thank everyone for participating in the 6th edition of the Festival. Prior to start this festival, we have received sad news from director Tigmanshu Dhulia. I have to announce with great grief to the audience that legendary actor Shashi Kapoor has passed away and his contribution will be unforgettable, and he will always be remembered by the Bollywood film industry.

Professional Career:

Shashi Kapoor starred in total 116 full-fledged feature films. He started his career as a child artist in 1948 with Aag. He performed his first adult role in 1961 with film Dharamputra. Some hit movies brought him in the big league including film Waqt of Yash Chopra. His English films presented his new personality in front of his fans and he is considered the 1st international star of India appearing in English language films since 1961 including Shakespeare Wallah and Pretty Polly to Siddhartha and Sammy, and Rosie Get Laid. He last appeared in an English film, ‘Side Streets’. He was the 3rd and youngest son of legendary Prithviraj Kapoor. He performed a number of unforgettable roles in various Hindi movies, including Deewar, Namak Halal, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Kaala Patthar, Dharma Putra, Awaara and Kabhie Kabhie. He played various roles from a doting father to a carefree youngster.

Bollywood superstar and successful on-screen partner of Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan penned a heartfelt post for his friend Shashi Kapoor. Bachchan recalled the day in his post when he first saw the picture of Shashi Kapoor on a magazine. He said that Shashi was standing elegantly without a care in the world, I saw him standing by a Mercedes Sports car, a convertible, a smartly trimmed beard, and mustache. He was looking an incredibly handsome man and it was a picture that filled almost an entire page of a magazine. There were very uncertain thoughts in my mind of needed to become a film actor, like him. On late Monday, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukerji and a large number of Bollywood stars visited the house of Shashi Kapoor to pay tributes to their late actor.
